At our church, we are doing a series on Proverbs and we also get memory verses for during the week. I'm typing them up to put on here... Also, these are in the NIV version.

Week 1: 06/14/09

Proverbs 4:23

Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.

Proverbs 1:7

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and dicipline.

Week 2: 06/21/09

The Fool::Ignores wisdom, Resists instruction

Proverbs 26:11

As a dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his folly.

Proverbs 18:2

A fool finds no pleasure in understanding but delights in airing his own opinions.

Proverbs 26:8

Like tying a stone in a sling is the giving of honor to a fool.

The Wise::Loves Wisdom, Recieves instruction

Proverbs 9:9

Instruct a wise man and he will be wiser still; teach a righteous man and he will add to his learning.

Proverbs 12:18

Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.

Proverbs 15:31

He who listens to a life-giving rebuke will be at home among the wise.

Week 3: 06/28/09

The Scoffer::Despises Wisdom, Hates instruction

Proverbs 19:29

Penalties are prepared for mockers and beatings for the backs of fools.

Proverbs 22:10

Drive out the scoffer, and contention will go out. Even strife and dishonor will cease.

Proverbs 9:7

He who corrects a scoffer gets dishonor for himself, and he who reproves a wicked man gets insults for himself.

The Simple::Lacks wisdom, requires instruction

Proverbs 1:32

For the waywardness of the simple will kill them, and the complaceny of fools will destroy them.

Proverbs 14:15

A simple man believes anything, but a prudent man gives thought to his steps.

Proverbs 22:3

A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it.

Week 4: 07/05/09

The Sluggard::Lacks Motivation, Lacks Wisdom

Proverbs 26:16

The sluggard is wiser in his own eyes than seven men who answer discreetly.

Proverbs 21:25

The sluggard's craving will be the death of him, because his hands refuse to work.

Proverbs 6:9

How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep?

The Seducer::Pursues destruction, Ignores wisdom

Proverbs 5:3-4

For the lips of an adulteress drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil; but in the end she is bitter as gall, sharp as a double-edged sword.

Proverbs 5:8-9

Keep to a path far from her. Do not go near the door of her house, lest you give your best strengh to others and your years to one who is cruel.

Proverbs 5:22-23

The evil deeds of a wicked man ensnare him; the cords of his sin hold him fast. He will die for lack of dicipline, led astray by his own great folly.
